Nanchang Airport Redevelopment

The Nanchang Hongdu Industrial redevelopment is a unique project in the evolution of Nanchang. The site has a long history with the aviation industry and is part of the history of modern Chinese aviation. The factory district and airfield zones have historically worked together from the fabrication of aircraft to testing.

This aviation center has become part of Nanchang, which expanded and grew around it, and the site was transformed from rural to urban. EKISTICS was commissioned to develop an overall development vision for the site, creating a vibrant new downtown district.

Existing features such as mature trees and the existing street landscape and industrial artifacts are integrated into the new vision, referencing the past while looking towards the future.
