LiJia Discovery Center

The LiJia Discovery Center is perched out on a promontory overlooking a beautiful river valley. It is comprised of a series of organic landscape buildings that merge into and out from the natural landscape setting. The approach to the Center winds its way through beautiful gardens and terraced walls leading the visitor out to the edge of a cliff with wide sweeping views over the valley. The experience causes the visitor to pause and reflect on this dramatic view and beautiful surroundings. The path continues turning away from the edge of the cliff where the buildings are revealed as the stone walls rise up from the ground and are peeled away to expose the interior volumes. Cantilevering over the edge of the cliffs, small cube rooms are suspended in air offering a private escape from the larger clubhouse functions.
